friday :: after work i stopped at the grocery store to finally start doing some shopping for the hubby’s birthday party on sunday. i managed to get a lot of food for a good price…whew! luckily i planned ahead a little bit and started to prep the ingredients for the hamburgers, by chopping onions and garlic to keep in the fridge til saturday.

saturday :: the hubby and our neighbor went to costco to pick up the liquor while i went back to the grocery store for more stuff. later i drove out to schaumburg to pick up all the chairs for the party. after we put the little man down for the night we sprung into action to clean the house.

sunday :: the big day of our party. i spent literally most of the morning running around like a crazy person, picking up last minute stuff. then bootie and fatabird came by to drop off the tables and i was off again to another store!

overall i think the party was a hit. the hubby had a great time, EVERYBODY had plenty of food to eat, and some of the guests were half in the bag. lol…not a bad party. except NOW i have to kill all the fruit flies that made it into the kitchen! ugh.

thursday :: in the late morning i got a phone call from daycare that the little man was sick and that he had a fever and a sore throat. the hubby and i were nowhere near our offices but he managed to clear his schedule to pick up the dude and get him to the doctor. while they were at the doctor the little man didn’t seem sick at all.

in the evening, however, things didn’t go so well. the little guy was vomiting and spiked a fever…but after paging the on-call doctor at northwestern we were advised to pretty much just keep an eye on him and his temperature.

friday :: we had plans to go to the hubby’s grandmother’s house to spend the holiday, but with the little man still not feeling well the hubby went by himself for a bit. by early evening the little man was feeling much better and back to his old self so we decided to finally take him to see his first movie in a theatre.

we’re big fans of pixar animation movies so we went to go see wall-e. we weren’t sure how the whole thing was going to go but it turned out great! yet again, pixar has managed to outdo themselves.

when we got home, of course there were fireworks going off all over the city, so we stayed up to watch the neighbors blow stuff up. the little man didn’t like the noise too much so we watched from our living room window.

saturday :: my mom hasn’t seen the little man in a few weeks so we went over to pick her up and of course, go shopping at target. my mom really gets a kick of letting the little man pick out a toy and give him $$$ to pay for it himself. afterwards we picked up some food and headed back to her house to eat.

when we got back home our neighbors were going to bbq again so we marinated some chicken and threw that on the grill. the little man’s sleep schedule has been all thrown off for the last few days so he went to bed at a more decent hour.

friday :: after we put the little man down for the night, the hubby got a bug up his butt to re-grout our kitchen tiles and do some patching. i guess since i don’t come from a home improvement state of mind, i never really noticed a real problem. it turns out, however, that there were gaps and cracks that needed to be repaired. so the hubby took the task upon himself to fix it up all nice!

saturday :: we were up super bright and early so i took the little man with me to do some grocery shopping while the hubby continued to work on the floors. every time i go grocery shopping i always see the carts with the plastic car attached to the front for the kids to ride in. this time i decided to put the little man inside for the ride. he had such a good time, telling everyone “excuse me” as we passed. little did i know, that thing is a pain in the ass to steer!

later in the afternoon we went to bootie’s nephew’s 2nd birthday party. i swear….that family really knows how to throw a good party! every time we go we know it’s going to be a lot of fun so we’re always excited, and once again they delivered.

they rented a huge moonwalk, and this time even the hubby got in on the fun. he even managed to body slam me without throwing out his back!

there were tons of people and even more food. aaaahh..happy birthday jacob!

sunday :: in the morning the hubby and i finished washing all the floors, then spent a little time outside before lunchtime. i managed to get some really cute pics of the little man and our neighbor’s daughter.

in the afternoon we went to another birthday party, this time for salami’s daughter. that was a nice time too, along with even more good food. good god what a weekend!

after coming home from that party we decided to put the little man down a little early and the hubby was able to finish the floors. now not only do we have the cleanest floors, they’re also the shiniest!

friday :: after picking up the little man, we all headed over to sushi x for a bite to eat. this was probably the first time i didn’t order sushi, but decided to go for some other things instead. i was pleasantly surprised that they changed some of the dishes, and i have to say they were way better! i didn’t think they could improve on already great dishes but they sure did.

after we got home we had a guy come over to measure our back door for the screen door installation. i’m so excited for this door to be installed before the party…am i getting old?!?!

saturday :: what an incredibly lazy day! i barely have the energy to post! hahaha.

sunday :: happy father’s day made a big breakfast for the hubby, while the little man went downstairs to give daddy his present. the little man even helped me decorate the gift. once the hubby opened up his great big screwdriver set we all had breakfast together.

the hubby wanted to go out to eat so we headed over to cafe ba ba reeba for dinner. luckily, the little man was pretty well behaved, and even used the washroom several times! no accidents! at one point when the boys were on their way back from the bathroom, the little man announced to the dining room that he pee-peed. since pretty much everyone else was there to celebrate father’s day, they all got a good chuckle out of it.

so i’ve started to plan a b-day bash for the hubby. now anyone who knows me knows full well how stressed i get, make spreadsheets, and cyber-stalk until the big event arrives, etc. etc.

luckily i have good friends to talk me down off my ledge. the hubby hasn’t had a real good party in f-o-r-e-v-e-r, so it’s important to me that he have one this year. i did nix my original cake idea (and once i started to get a few estimates, i’m glad i did! curse you, food network challenge!) and simply go for something the hubby actually wants.

i know i’m going to stress out about the party no matter what. at last count, there are going to be at least 20+ attending for sure. good god! where to put everybody! i want to make sure this is a good time, dammit!!!

friday :: cut out of work a bit early and managed to get a MUCH needed pedicure before picking up the little man. i knew i was meant to get a pedicure when i found a rockstar parking spot about 20 feet from the salon!

the hubby spent the rest of the daylight time fixing the fence and making it less burglar-friendly, while i let the little man play out back for a few more hours.

saturday :: the little man and i were out of the house pretty early to spend the day with grandma. we got him a pair of shoes, then fooled around at target for awhile.

after grabbing some lunch to bring back, my mom watched the little man while i snuck away for an even more needed manicure.

meanwhile, the hubby was doing some door repairs and repainting. the dog had damaged some of the doors so the hubby used the time alone to take care of all that, so it was good that we were out of his hair.

sunday :: we went to enchanted castle for logan’s birthday party. the hubby and the little man had a ton of fun playing racing games against each other. i tried to get a picture of the both of them, but i had to keep my foot on the accelerator because the little man couldn’t reach!

we were pretty pooped when we left, so we grabbed a quick bite to eat then headed home so the hubby could finish painting the doors. what a tiring weekend!

yesterday morning i stepped out back to check how the weather was before getting dressed for work. while i was out there i heard someone coming down the stairs. for some reason i noticed that i didn’t hear any of the back doors open or close.

a sleepy looking black guy had come to the bottom of the stairs, said “good morning” to me, then proceeded to walk/exit between our buildings. i quickly ran into the house and looked out the front window but he was gone.

after lunch i called home to check on the hubby, to find out that our third floor neighbor’s place got broken into! we weren’t 100% sure if it was the same guy. luckily, our second floor neighbor had heard footsteps upstairs and possibly scared the guy off before he could take anything.

later in the evening after we put the little man to bed, another neighbor was out back and there was a guy (99% sure it was the same guy) in between the parked cars who’d gotten scared off and took off running.

shortly after, some of the guys went around the neighborhood in search of this guy. we checked out the cars to find that one of them had gotten broken into so i called the police. of course, it took almost a half hour for the cops to show up but when they did, they came deep!

they had someone in the back seat, but some of the residents didn’t think it was the same person, just some poor kid who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

needless to say, i was pretty freaked out. i must have checked the house 5-6 times, checked on the little guy, his bathroom, even under his bed. the hubby and our neighbor nailed screws in the wooden parts of the fence and pointed them up, so hopefully maybe this will deter the guy from coming back. but if it was the same guy, he’d already been around three times in one day. that’s either a LOT of balls/stupidity, or just a REAL badk coincidence.

i’ve never really been one to go to a theatre and watch a movie, always preferring to wait til it’s on cable. this past week, however, has been quite different.

on friday i met up with the girls to catch sex and the city. bootie got me spoiled by taking me to muvico a few months back for national treasure so now i’m afraid i can’t go to a “regular” theatre again.

at first we could only get regular seating tickets but thanks to my cyber-stalking, i snagged four primo seats for a new time slot they had just released. after fighting through throngs of 40-something year old women wearing “i heart NY” tank tops, we got some martinis, had a wonderful dinner (that took so long to get we got heavily discounted…whoo whoo!), we nestled into our loveseats and got ready to watch the show.

we laughed, we cried, we had a fabulous time!

yesterday the hubby and i were able to cut out early to go to muvico (yes….AGAIN) and watch indiana jones. he’d never been to this theatre and i wouldn’t shut up about it, so it was off to muvico. i have to say, some of the critics’ reviews i read were dead on. at first harrison ford’s stunts seemed kind of cheesy and he really begain to show his age, but i quickly forgot about it and got sucked into the movie. he’s still got it for an old guy!
